Moving From Fear To Freedom

All of us have experienced fear at one time or another in our lives. But what is it, where does it come from and how can we move from fear to freedom? In Fearless Living, Rhonda Britten says this about the definition of fear:

"Fear is both the cause and effect of the feelings, thoughts or actions that prohibit you from accepting yourself and realizing your full potential. Fear stands between you and your ability to go anywhere you like, do anything you want, and meet anyone you please. To help you stay safe, fear motivates you to hide your essential nature by thwarting your ability to express yourself truthfully."

Many of you have heard what fear stands for: False Expectations Appearing Real. The key here is "appearing real"; your subconscious mind doesn't distinguish fantasy from reality and will believe anything you tell it.

Be watchful when you begin weaving stories and worst case scenarios in your mind such as: "This won't work out", "What are they going to say?" and/or "What will they think of me?" You can get caught up in a looping process and be unable to find your way out. Ultimately this incessant self-talk can cause you to become stopped in your life and it can prohibit you from moving forward into your desired future.

So what are some tools we can use to get out of the looping or "monkey talk" as a friend of mine calls it?

First, become aware of your emotion and name it for what it really is: fear. Don't resist it, for what we resist persists. Becoming aware of when you are in a state of fear may take some practice, but it is worth the effort.

Second, decide to step into the Now. Getting to a place of being centered and grounded in the present moment will help, because fear is based on an imaginary future, not the actual present. Standing in the present moment you will realize that none of the things you have projected into your future as negative possibilities are actually taking place now. Be with the reality of the situation, not the fantasy.

Next, begin to focus on the positive outcome, with specific results, that you do want. Start bringing up all of the "why's" that support what you want to accomplish and recognize how those outweigh the reasons why you remain stuck.

Finally, move into action. Take one step at a time toward your positive outcome. No more hiding and wishing you woulda, coulda, shoulda. No more building resentment against yourself or others. Just do it, now!

Step up to the plate and take on this process anytime you get caught up in, stuck or stopped by fear. This will allow you to access unlimited possibilities, unbridled potential and powerful choices. Invite your passion and desire for living your best life to move to the forefront. Now is the time to live your purpose and create a life of fearlessness with love and joy. Choose freedom over fear!

Love, light and laughs,

Christel
