Deep Breaths
Relaxation Excercise
Objective: To bring you to a centered, relaxed state.*
- Get in a comfortable position, close your eyes and take 3
deep cleansing breaths. Allow yourself to relax and go
into an altered state (hypnosis).
- Take another deep breath…relax deeply…and as you do…allow
yourself to go even deeper.
- Say this to yourself: “I am about
to take 21 deep breaths. The effect of this will
be equal to 4 or 5 hours of relaxing, refreshing
sleep.”
- Repeat again to yourself: “I am about to take 21 deep breaths.
The effect of this will be equal to 4 or 5 hours of relaxing,
refreshing sleep.”
- Now begin to take your 21 deep breaths, starting
at 21 and counting down to zero. Count each breath,
breathing slowly and rhythmically.
- When you’ve finished your 21 deep breaths, come back to waking
consciousness at your own speed by counting yourself
from 1 to 5 and opening your eyes. Do this as many times
as necessary to
come back to a wide awake
state.
*Remember, this is not a substitute for getting a good,
restful night’s sleep, but it can be used as a supplement
to your sleep when
needed.
